Awards
1745
Post office building
Georg Adolf Friedrich Heidenreich (1701-1778) built a post office with the stones of the Cistercian monastery destroyed in the 30 Years' War in the monastery gardens.
1746
Receipt of business licence
The ‘Alte Post’ receives the business licence for 75 gold guilders and becomes an inn and horse changing station for Thurn und Taxis on the route from Frankfurt to Basel.
1778
Stagecoach era
Transition to the son Georg Friedrich Heidenreich. The stagecoach era brought many famous guests to the house: Margrave Karl Friedrich, Goethe on his second trip to Italy, Hoffmann von Fallersleben and a regular guest was the famous Alemannic poet Johann Peter Hebel, who sang about the ‘Alte Post’ in the poem ‘Der Schwarzwälder im Breisgau’.

Various owners
The Alte Post inn and the ‘Alte Post’ farm were continued under different owners.
1955
Motel GmbH
Sale to a Frankfurt hotel company, which set up a modern, car-friendly accommodation facility as ‘Motel GmbH’.
1986
Heinrich Mack
Heinrich Mack acquired the ageing property. The first renovation work began on the basis of an innovative, sustainable, ecological and future-orientated concept. To date, many renovation measures have been implemented and realised in line with conservation and ecological measures.
1991
1st eco hotel of the year
Awarded ‘1st Environmental Hotel of the Year’ in Germany by the trade magazine ‘NGZ - der Hotelier’ 1st place in the ‘Environmental Award for SMEs’ presented by the management magazine ‘Impulse’ and Commerzbank.
2000
Award of Excellence
‘Award of Excellence’ from the American trade magazine ‘Wine Spectator’ for the wine list, which was one of the 60 best in Germany.

The award of the European Ecolabel.
2016
30th anniversary of Heinrich & Uschi Mack
Heinrich & Uschi Mack celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Landhotel Alte Post, which is one of the top addresses in South Baden and has become a Mecca for gourmets who appreciate excellent regional cuisine. To mark the anniversary, the historic Posthaltersaal is being renovated and fitted out with organic building materials, high-quality oak flooring, state-of-the-art technology, CO2-neutral air conditioning and an elaborate acoustic ceiling.

Fabrice Mack
Fabrice Mack is the second generation to run the company with the support of his parents. Conscious working from an ecological point of view will continue to accompany and drive us. We will continue not to be pigeonholed.

Room renovation
On 8 April, 11 rooms at the Hotel Alte Post were renovated. The theme of the rooms is ‘Poets & Thinkers’!

Nominated for the Baden-Württemberg Environmental Award and the Internorga Hamburg Future Award.
