There are three thermal spas within a 30-minute drive of the Alte Post: the Cassiopeia Therme in Badenweiler with its Roman roots (approx. 15 minutes), the Balinea Therme at the Drei-Thermen-Resort in Bad Bellingen (approx. 20 minutes) and the Vita Classica Therme in Bad Krozingen (approx. 20 minutes). Ideal for unwinding body and soul after a hike through the vineyards.
Golfers will also find plenty to enjoy in the Markgräflerland region: No fewer than three 18-hole courses are just a 20- to 30-minute drive away – the Markgräflerland Golf Club near Kandern at the foot of the Black Forest, the ‘Golf du Rhin’ course in the nature reserve near Neuenburg am Rhein, and the two courses, Kapellenberg and Quellenhof, at the Drei Thermen Golf Resort in Bad Bellingen.
Every season has something very special to offer in the Markgräflerland
Spring (March – May): the most beautiful time of year in the Markgräflerland. Fruit trees are in bloom in the Breisgau, the first vineyard shepherds are rousing, the weather is mild and the paths are not yet crowded.
Summer (June–August): Ideal conditions for higher-altitude hikes on the Belchen and Feldberg. It can get quite hot in the valley – best to set off early in the morning, then head to the Hebelstube’s garden restaurant in the afternoon.
Autumn (September–November): Grape harvest season. Golden vineyards, mushrooms in the woods, game on the menu. One of the most popular seasons for walking holidays in the Markgräflerland.
Winter (December – February): Snowshoeing and skiing on the Feldberg (60 km). Down in the valley, the weather is often mild and fog-free. Quiet forests, no crowds of tourists.

The Wiiwegli, a leisurely hiking trail through the vineyards of the Markgräflerland region, passes right by Müllheim. Hikes around the Castellberg, the Ölberg, to Bürgeln Castle or through the Eggenertal valley are also popular.
Yes, there are plenty! We particularly recommend the Dörflinger or Blankenhorn wineries. Many winegrowers offer guided tours, tastings and the chance to buy wine directly on site. We’d be happy to book a wine tasting for you – just ask us at reception.
There are weekly markets selling regional products in Müllheim and the surrounding area. Seasonal highlights include the autumn market, wine festivals, culinary theme weeks and events at castles and wineries.
Freiburg can be reached in around 30 minutes, Basel in around 40 minutes – conveniently by car or train. And Strasbourg, the cultural metropolis of Alsace, is also only around 1.5 hours away. All three cities are ideal for a day trip – offering plenty of culture, fine cuisine and charming old towns.
